Covers bowed, some intermittent very pale spotting. Discreet inkstamp of the Biblioteca Bonclerici at foot of title. First separate edition of this text on Byzantine numismatics originally published in Du Cagne's 'Hystoria Byzantina' (1680). The author is one of the greatest French philologists and medievalists, cited throughout Gibbon's 'History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire' and deemed by him "our sure and indefatigable guide in the Middle Ages and Byzantine history."
