Homeri Odyssea Id Est De Rebus Ab Ulysse Gestis Eiusdem Batrachomyomachia & Hymni [ Homer Odyssey Odysseia Homeric Hymns ]
Jean Crespin, Geneva 1567 - Published in 1567 by Jean Crespin, Geneva, a French-born Protestant and friend of Calvin. A well-bound book -- solid, flat, square. Contemporary full calf with a blind-stamped cartouches to the covers. Decorative chapter headings and initial letters. A venerable exterior with rubs, dings, and some loss. The interior is pleasant & bright. No internal marks; inconsequential bits of discoloration (liquid spill) to edge of some of the Homeric Hymn leaves. Three names of previous owners appear on endpapers and pastedowns, as does a bookplate. The earliest (?) identified owner wrote Trinity College Cambridge in a spidery hand and also used a rear end paper to make different attempts at his signature. "Homeri Odyssea" written to one exterior page edge. TABLE OF CONTENTS: Introduction, Variae Lectiones, Odyssey, Batrachomyomachia, Homeric Hymns. 848 pp, Greek and Latin side-by-side, 12 ounces. We ship daily. Out to you w/tracking. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
