[Attributes: Signed Copy; Soft Cover]

An Adventure in Constructive Finance [Inscribed to Arthur W. Page]

Doubleday, Page and Co. 1927 - Signed New York, 1927. 8vo, publisher's quarter cloth over paper covered boards, 423 pp. Inscribed to Arthur Page, Esq., vice president and director of AT&T : To Arthur W. Page, Esq. / Whose counsel and encouragement / were almost an indispensable factor / in the production of this work / with an expression of deep appreciation / from Carter Glass / April 1927." Glass's classic memoir of the period in which the Federal Reserve was established: "Named to the House Banking and Currency Committee, he quickly became one of its most knowledgeable and influential members and its chairman in 1912. With the assistance of economist H. Parker Willis, Glass was the primary author of the 1913 law that set up the Federal Reserve System. The act established an elastic currency that could expand or contract in response to the needs of the economy. Although Glass initially proposed a decentralized system under private control by bankers, President Woodrow Wilson insisted that the twelve Federal Reserve district banks be controlled by a central public board. Glass joined the Wilson administration as secretary of the treasury on 16 December 1918, remaining until February 1920, when he resigned to fill the Senate vacancy caused by the death of Thomas S. Martin. He won reelection to the Senate and served there for the rest of his life." - ANB. A very good plus copy with some small stains to rear board, else near fine.          ARMENIAN COMMUNIST MAGAZINE: Ashkatank / Labour

Yerevan, Armenia: Communist Party of Armenia, April 10, . 1927 - 4°, 20 pp. with illustrations within text, original tan wrappers with text and illustrations printed in brown, stapled (Very Good, slightly age-toned, wrappers slightly stained, tiny tears in the lower inner side). This extremely rare Armenian Communist magazine (Ashkatank / Labour), issued on April 10, 1927, features articles on the Communist officials and labour movement, both accompanied with illustrations, photographs and photomontages. The caricatures on the last pages include political motives and anti-church propaganda. We could not find many information on the Ashkatank magazine. An Armenian Communist newspaper with same name was printed during WWI in Van, Turkey (Yektan Turkyilmaz, Rethinking Genocide: Violence and Victimhood in Eastern Anatolia, 1913-1915, 2011, p. 57). This number was printed in 2500 examples in Yerevan, Armenia, as noted in the imprint.
